Specialty Dampers for Racing Cars

Magnetorheological fluid dampers have been used on corvettes, and a number of european cars and specialty vehicles. In these devices, the rate of fluid flow through the piston, which has fixed orifice passages, is controlled by a PWM signal running through a coil in the piston. Flow is proportional to the 'on' time of the PWM signal.

MTS has successful installations in the center rod where the electronics are in the damper eye. Sensor signal management eliminates interference from the piston coil.
